Here's a hint I learned.... I think in grad school actually.
If you are having difficulty getting into the correct writing mode.... find a passage, 2-4 paragraphs (some say as much as 1-2 pages) that are the genre, quality and/or style you want to emulate and literally copy them... I mean write/type them out word for word. It can even be a different topic altogether... the caliber/style etc is the main point.
It seems to help your brain get into the groove..the flow or that style and type of writing.
Reading the style that you want/need to write is also helpful..but actually typing or writing the words out seems even more beneficial.
